Playing with K’Nex

We had a whale of a time playing Arthur’s K’Nex over the weekend. He’s a bit young for it, but he’s happy to join up things together and build random thing. I’ve taken the role of building things for him based on what he picks from the book and that’s proving to be lots of fun too.

He seems to have a building streak going, so in the future he’ll be fixing cars maybe and playing with Polaris RZR accessories. But in the meantime it’s going to be just blocks and pieces. Anyway, if anyone has any spare K’Nex blocks they’re not using … you know where to drop them ;)

The 100 piece puzzle

Pokemon Jigsaw Puzzle Box

Well, today was another first for Arthur, as we completed his first 100 piece jigsaw. Ok, I did give him some help, but in a few days he’ll be doing it alone, just you wait. It’s amazing how kids develop through games, and I’m sure Arthur is no exception. It was only a few days ago that he was banging soft toys together, then working his way through blocks and John Dere toys; now it’s puzzles, letters and numbers.

Anyway, I thought a 100 piece puzzle was quite a milestone. What do you think?

And by the way ..

Disneyland Resort Paris 15 years

I’m not sure if you picked up the news on my main blog, but we’re having twins! We’re still a bit of a way off, still in the first few weeks, but it’s great news anyway, and I wanted to make sure everybody out there knews about it too. Both of us are pretty excited and Arthur’s happy he’s going to be a big brother and have more kids to play with.

In the meantime, there’s time for planning, cleaning out and getting ready for the new arrivals. Guess I won’t be getting my new Adams golf drivers anytime soon huh? We’ve also had to change plans for our 10th anniversary. We were planning on going on a cruise, but it will be too close to the due date for comfort. So, we probably will take Arthur to EuroDisney instead. Anyway, just wanted to share the news and let everyoen know we’re over the moon!

Need to update Arthur’s blog

Hmm, I just realised that Arthur’s blog really needs some new photos. He’s grown loads since the batch of photos we have on there and things have really changed. He’s out of baby clothes now and he’s even going to school. Actually, he’s going to the local Montessori school and he’s really enjoying it.

Amazing how fast they grow isn’t it? Won’t be long before he’s off to university .. or out in the working world. I wonder what he’ll become when he grows up ..

Ideas for Christmas presents

Well, Christmas is just round the corner (well, close enough), so I’ve been keeping my eyes open for different ideas as to what we can get him. One idea I came across whas that of personalized books just like the ones down at Frecklebox. You get get ones with all sort of different things in it, like stories and pictures and even personalised placemats (like the picture I’ve included here).

Even though Arthur is still two, he can recognise and even spell out his name, even if he can’t write it out yet. I would prefer to get him something like this than plain baby clothes, as he can build more of an emotional attachment to it and it’s something he can take forward with him; rather than grow out of.

Feeling a bit rough

Bit of a depressing weekend this. We’ve been stuck at home with different forms of flu and terrible weather outside. It’s the middle of summer, 15 degrees and raining so the weather really reflects how we feel. It hasn’t been all bad though, we spent some time together as a family and Arthur and I played a bit on my keyboard. He’s been a star really even though he’s had the sniffles, he’s happy to play and practice his letters and words. He even found a golf hat today and spent an age playing with it.

I’ve been pretty amazed to watch him on his computer (yes, he has one already). Not only can he play different Flash games, but he’s also comfortable switching from one page to another to select a different game and work his way through them. And he’s only 2!
