Spring Bank Holiday

The UK have a number of these Bank Holidays which are basically national holidays. Next Monday is Spring Bank Holiday; of which I have no idea what the origins are .. but hey it’s a long weekend.

It’s nice to have a long weekend every now and again. Spend time with the family, grab your golf equipment and head off the the golf course, take the family to Butlins .. there are a million and one things you can be doing. Me, I’ll be spending time with Arthur and Camille, we have lots of things to do around the house and who knows, maybe we’ll get to spend some time outdoors, if the weather holds up.

The 100 piece puzzle

Well, today was another first for Arthur, as we completed his first 100 piece jigsaw. Ok, I did give him some help, but in a few days he’ll be doing it alone, just you wait. It’s amazing how kids develop through games, and I’m sure Arthur is no exception. It was only a few days ago that he was banging soft toys together, then working his way through blocks and John Dere toys; now it’s puzzles, letters and numbers.

Anyway, I thought a 100 piece puzzle was quite a milestone. What do you think?

Here’s to the weekend

And the weekend is finally here again. Luckily, it looks like the weather is going to be half decent this time round, so we might be able to get some quality family time in the fresh air. I’m not sure if I’m ready to go out and buy some golf equipment yet, but I’m sure we’ll be able to manage a walk in the sun, whether it’s on a beach or in a glen.

Last weekend was Easter and we were in the UK, which was fun as we met up with family, but we didn’t really get to do much, so hopefully this weekend might be a bit different. In truth, I’m not averse to spending the weekend asleep, but I’m sure Arthur would love to get out and about.

And by the way ..

Disneyland Resort Paris 15 years

I’m not sure if you picked up the news on my main blog, but we’re having twins! We’re still a bit of a way off, still in the first few weeks, but it’s great news anyway, and I wanted to make sure everybody out there knews about it too. Both of us are pretty excited and Arthur’s happy he’s going to be a big brother and have more kids to play with.

In the meantime, there’s time for planning, cleaning out and getting ready for the new arrivals. Guess I won’t be getting my new Adams golf drivers anytime soon huh? We’ve also had to change plans for our 10th anniversary. We were planning on going on a cruise, but it will be too close to the due date for comfort. So, we probably will take Arthur to EuroDisney instead. Anyway, just wanted to share the news and let everyoen know we’re over the moon!

We’re having twins!

You might have read on one of my other blogs that we have twins on the way! We’re both overjoyed and really looking forward to excitement that this is going to bring. I’m not saying it’s not going to be a challenge, even the fact that we need to buy two of everything is going to be fun, two cots, two sets of toys, even to NCAA jerseys when they’re the right age.

Anyway, it’s great that both of us are so happy about this. All our family and friends are offering their support and it feels great to be wished well by our community of friends, especially as they are all over the world. We’ll keep you posted with the news ;)

Feeling a bit rough

Bit of a depressing weekend this. We’ve been stuck at home with different forms of flu and terrible weather outside. It’s the middle of summer, 15 degrees and raining so the weather really reflects how we feel. It hasn’t been all bad though, we spent some time together as a family and Arthur and I played a bit on my keyboard. He’s been a star really even though he’s had the sniffles, he’s happy to play and practice his letters and words. He even found a golf hat today and spent an age playing with it.

I’ve been pretty amazed to watch him on his computer (yes, he has one already). Not only can he play different Flash games, but he’s also comfortable switching from one page to another to select a different game and work his way through them. And he’s only 2!

Leaving .. on a jet plane .. just for the weekend

We’re spending a weekend in London to celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary. The plan is to have dinner, go to the theatre and spend the night in London while the in-laws look after Arthur. We haven’t really booked anything yet, but are planning to either watch Wicked or Les Miserables. Trying to find a good deal on tickets is rather hard though, and I really don’t have much time to look around.

Should be a smooth journey as I’m only taking hand luggage. The airlines have been getting silly with baggage recently. Apparently you get charges extra to take sports equipment like skis on board now. The one thing I’m really waiting for it to be able to get Internet on planes. With satellite internet services being so ubiquitous around the world it’s quite surprising they haven’t cracked that one yet. The question is, how much would they charge for the privilege?
