Everywhere we go there’s an Internet connection
I wonder how things would be different if people didn’t congregate so much in cities, but instead spread out around the world. The more I think about it, the more I’m convinced that mobile satellite would really be more pervasive than it is today. If you live in a city, you tend to assume that you’re going to have an Internet connection wherever you go. You could be close to Wifi, or have a 3G connection. Things are a bit different if you have to move to a more rural area where consumers are more sparse.
Who knows where technology would have taken us today?

Internet access anywhere
I’ve just been reading about how you can get satellite network access when you’re out in the forest (as long as you can see the sky that is). It centers around having the right equipment and being able to connect up to satellite internet. Coverage varies of course, but there are a number of places around the globe where you can get an Internet connection even if you’re nowhere near a phone line.
It’s great that you can get this sort of access nowadays; it used to be really hard to stay in touch, but nowadays there just isn’t any excuse.
